Indianapolis-based student housing developer Annex Student Living announces the acquisition and redevelopment of an apartment community in Battle Creek, Michigan. The currently vacant property, located at 511 North Avenue across the street from Kellogg Community College, will be rebranded as The Annex of Battle Creek. The $6 million renovation project began this month and will be completed by August for student occupancy.
The Annex of Battle Creek will begin accepting leases in March of this year for 118 beds in 64 units including one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and townhomes. The investment will result in a full renovation of the existing structure, improvements to the exterior and interior, and all new furnishings. A new clubhouse also will be built and will feature a fitness center, TV lounge area, a laundry center, and ample study space with computers.
“We’ve established a strong relationship with Kellogg Community College and the City of Battle Creek and are excited by their overwhelming support,” said Annex Student Living CEO Kyle Bach. “We’re eager to enhance the overall college experience for these students by offering contemporary and affordable living options conveniently located close to their chosen school.”
Founded in 2009 by Bach, Annex Student Living doubled its assets last year alone and continues to look for additional opportunities to develop and acquire at under-served campuses. The Annex of Battle Creek marks the twelfth student housing community developed by Annex Student Living and the first in Michigan.
